Ikarus

This bus brand became known in 1951, when the first buses under this name came out on the routes in Budapest. The enterprise emerged as the unification of three nationalized productions. The new enterprise developed rapidly. To the USSR alone more than 150,000 vehicles were delivered. They included both urban and intercity comfortable buses, distinguished by a modern and interesting design, reliable and convenient. By the mid-1980s of the last century, Ikarus entered the ranks of the largest automotive concerns of Europe. The enterprise's products were exported to more than 40 countries of the world.

After the collapse of the world socialist system, the volume of orders sharply fell, and the plant began to lose its positions. By the beginning of the 2000s production had practically ceased, but in 2010 a successful attempt was made to relaunch the brand.

Alongside Ikarus, well-known Hungarian brands included Globus — fruit-and-vegetable canning products, Gedeon Richter — pharmaceutical products, Tokaj — winemaking, and the famous Rubik's Cube.
